Overview

SUNY at Geneseo, a public liberal arts college, is situated in the historic village of Geneseo in upstate New York, approximately 30 miles south of Rochester. Founded in 1871 as the Wadsworth Normal and Training School, it became part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system in 1948. The college is characterized by its picturesque campus, which features a blend of traditional ivy-covered buildings and modern facilities. Academically, Geneseo is recognized for its rigorous curriculum, especially known for its strong programs in education, business, the sciences, and the humanities. The college offers a variety of undergraduate majors with a liberal arts focus and has a reputation for a moderately selective admissions process. Housing is available on campus with several residence halls and living-learning communities. While Geneseo's athletics, known as the Knights, may not be at the forefront of its identity, the college is an NCAA Division III institution with a range of varsity sports.

In the most recent statistical year 9,069 prospective students applied, and 6,795 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 872 enrolled in the school.  4,008 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 176 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $7,070 plus fees of $1,896.
