Overview

Wayland Baptist University, founded in 1908 and located in Plainview, Texas, is a private coeducational Christian university affiliated with the Baptist Church. The institution offers a picturesque campus set in the High Plains region of Texas, just to the north of Lubbock. Academic life at Wayland is characterized by a diverse selection of undergraduate programs, with notable emphasis on religious studies, business, education, and the social sciences. Housing options include on-campus living facilities for students who prefer the residential college experience. With a more inclusive admission process, the university attracts a wide range of applicants. While not primarily celebrated for its athletic programs, the university fields teams across various sports as the Wayland Baptist Pioneers, competing in the NAIA.

In the most recent statistical year 1,311 prospective students applied, and 914 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 262 enrolled in the school.  1,586 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,392 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $20,942 plus fees of $1,426.
