Dordt University, established in 1955 and located in Sioux Center, Iowa, offers a Christ-centered education dedicated to a Reformed, biblical perspective. The university encourages students to apply their faith to every area of life which includes scholarship, work and service. Dordt provides a residential campus environment, with a majority of students living in on-campus housing options that range from traditional dormitories to apartments and suites. While Dordt's campus is in a rural setting, it maintains connectivity with the larger community and is about an hour's drive from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Academically, the institution is known for its strong programs in education, engineering, agriculture, social work, and business administration among others, and has a moderately selective admissions process. While Dordt might not be distinctly known for its athletic prowess, it competes in the NAIA as the Defenders, fielding teams in a number of sports.
